Getting Started with Zephyr using SmartBear MCP

Zephyr MCP tools are available through either a local SmartBear MCP deployment or SmartBear MCP Remote for centralized access to Zephyr integrations and capabilities. Use a local Zephyr MCP server when AI workflows require direct access to a user’s local environment, such as local automation frameworks, repositories, or test assets. Use a remote Zephyr MCP server when teams require centralized access to Zephyr data and integrations across Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise systems. Remote deployments simplify administration, governance, and access to shared organizational context.

A remote MCP deployment is also required when integrating Zephyr MCP with Atlassian Rovo. Many organizations use a hybrid approach that combines local MCP deployments for developer and tester workflows with remote MCP deployments for centralized integrations, reporting, and enterprise-wide access.
